NHS Trusts providing cancer chemotherapy services in England should now be collecting or preparing to collect chemotherapy data. For trusts with a higher state of readiness, mandatory data collection will have begun in April 2012 for submission in May 2012.
The dataset has been designed to collect information on all drug treatments with an anti-cancer effect, in all treatment settings, including traditional cytoxic chemotherapy and all newer agents.
Once data collection is established, the CIU will provide reports via this site, tailored to the requirements of trusts, commissioners and other groups. These will provide a powerful new tool to understand patterns of service provision and support rational decision making to improve patient care.
How to upload data
The dataset, the structure and necessary resources for trusts to familiarise, implement and meet the SACT dataset requirements are contained within this website. Additional support from the CIU is also available. For help in developing local processes and in resolving any issues please follow this link - What you need to do
The CIU are in the process of delivering SACT training sessions to any hospital that has expressed interest. To request training for your hospital or trust, please contact ciu@sph.nhs.uk.
