Accessibility statement:

This accessibility statement applies to http://www.chemodataset.nhs.uk

This website is run by the National Disease Registration Service (NDRS). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • the text will not reflow in a single column when you zoom in on the page
  • you cannot skip to the main content using a keyboard only or screen reader
  • some images and buttons have poor alternative text and labels
  • some pages are missing headings
  • the colour contrast is insufficient in some areas
  • the language of the page has not been set

Reporting accessibility problems with this website

We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, contact: SACT@phe.gov.uk

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

NDRS is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

 Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Navigation

  • A feature to skip over the navigation and filters to go directly to the main content was not provided (Bypass Blocks 2.4.1)
  • There’s a keyboard trap when using Firefox 84 and IE11 on the global search component in the header (Keyboard Trap 2.1.2)

Images

  • There are many instances throughout the website of images that have poorly authored alternative text (Label in Name 2.5.3, Non-Text Content 1.1.1, Images of Text 1.4.5)

Zoom

  • When the page is zoomed to 200% the main navigation wraps behind page content making it unusable and the user interface does not adapt to accommodate small screen sizes (Reflow 1.4.10)

Colours

  • The colour contrast of text was insufficient in a number of areas (Contrast (Minimum) 1.4.3)

Structure

  • ARIA landmarks were missing (Info & Relationships 1.3.1)
  • HTML was not nested according to the specification (Parsing 4.1.1)
  • The language of the page has not been set (Language of Page 3.1.1)

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are about to launch a new website where we will be consolidating all legacy websites and platforms associated with NDRS. This single point of access will provide a more user-friendly, streamlined service for stakeholders and users. It will also enable NDRS to meet the accessibility standard for all revised and newly developed web content.

We are working with a software consultancy organisation on this with the aim to have the new website completed by Spring 2022.

We will ensure that the new website meets the accessibility regulations Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 to Level AA.
